Lasting Power of Attorney

What is a Lasting Power of Attorney?

  • A Lasting Power of Attorney (or LPA for short) is a special document which allows you to nominate one or more persons you trust to make decisions on your behalf when you no longer wish to or are not able to make such decisions due to illness or mental incapacity
  • The decisions can be about your property and financial affairs and/or your personal welfare and medical issues

How we can help you and how much does it cost:

We offer different levels of service, depending on our involvement:

  • Complete Service:
We advise on all aspects of making an LPA, prepare it for you and ensure it is correctly executed. The charge for this service is £450 plus VAT for an individual LPA or £650 plus VAT for a couple.
  • Checking Service:
You prepare the LPA yourself and we check that it is done correctly and provide you with the necessary certificate. The charge for this service is £150 plus VAT for an individual LPA or £200 plus VAT for a couple
  • Registration Service:
We can register the completed LPA with the Office of the Public Guardian. The charge for this service is £200 plus VAT. There is an additional registration fee of £150 payable to the Office of the Public Guardian

We can also register old-style Enduring Powers of Attorney created before 1st October 2007.

In order to deal with your instructions it will be necessary to meet with a member of our Team. We are more than happy to discuss this with you, and also to make suitable arrangements for such a meeting.
